Trust & safety
Most study apps ask you to trust a black box with your child's education. Torchlight was built the other way round: real teachers build the content, Shine delivers it, and every answer is grounded, scored, reviewable and visible to parents. Here's exactly how.
The journey of an answer
Every lesson starts with our team of teachers and subject specialists — the people who actually know WAEC, NECO and JAMB inside out. AI helps them work faster; it never replaces their judgment.
Content is anchored to the official WAEC, NECO or JAMB syllabus for that subject and topic — the same documents examiners set questions from — so what your child studies is what actually gets tested.
Shine is the friendly face your child talks to — explaining steps, answering questions, and checking understanding before moving on. The warmth is Shine's; the teaching behind it is our experts'.
Each answer carries a confidence level, visible right in the conversation. Anything below our bar is labelled honestly and routed to human review — because a wrong answer delivered confidently is the worst thing you can give a student before an exam.
Every answer records where it came from and how it was checked. Parents can review any conversation, and one tap reports a problem straight to our team.
The household model
A Torchlight account starts with a parent, not a child. Guardians create the household, add each learner, and grant informed consent for exactly what Torchlight may collect and do — per child. Children never need their own credentials; the guardian's trust is the root of everything. Withdraw consent and it takes effect immediately, everywhere.
